Player Profiles

   Stuart 'Casper' Henderson-Smith (Captain)  RHB

AGE                              31

BAT                              Slazenger Pure Blade Elite

HIGHEST SCORE        14

BEST FIGURES            0 - 12

ECONOMY                  9.5

FAV SHOT                   Square Cut

FAV MOVIE                 Dodge ball (A True Underdog Story)

FAV MEMORY            Watching the climactic end to day four of the Edgbaston Ashes Test at the London Beer Festival.

Stuart owns the idiots guide to cricket, and that is why he is our captain.  His unmistakable batting stance may not look pretty but it’s certainly effective and with the addition of contact lenses for this season hopefully fewer catches will be put down!

Dave 'Waga' Norden  (Vice Capt)   RHB

AGE                              31

BAT                              Dave broke his bat!

HIGHEST SCORE        36

BEST FIGURES            3 - 1

ECONOMY                  4.71

FAV SHOT                   Straight Drive

FAV MOVIE                 Cheaper by the Dozen

FAV MEMORY            Witnessing Stuart drop a catch and squash his gooleys on the ball / ground as he shamefully fell.

Although this all-rounder is an integral cog in the drive that is RS Cricket, he does always want everything done quicker.  So no doubt we'll be reminding our 18-fingered, vice captain of this when he's at the crease this year!

Matthew 'One-Shot' Flack (20Twenty Capt)  LHB

AGE                              30

BAT                              Woodworm Satellite Gold

HIGHEST SCORE        15*

BEST FIGURES            1 - 13

ECONOMY                  5.43

FAV SHOT                   Slog  (Anything in the Air)

FAV MOVIE                 Batman (he was so pleased with the link)

FAV MEMORY            Celebrating with Dave on the wicket at the close of a match for East Cheam.  Did they win?  No, but they were both Not Out!  Bless!

This improving player is learning more about the game with every experience, we're all just hoping that he's going to learn to hit the ball to the boundary along the floor!  Matt's no-nonsense approach to captaincy will no doubt give us the positive drive we need to succeed in our 20Twenty matches this year!

    Daniel 'The Wall' D'Souza        RHB

AGE                              32

BAT                              SG with newly fixed grip (aka- the run machine!)

HIGHEST SCORE        12

BEST FIGURES            Don't let him near the ball!

ECONOMY                  Food bought from Tesco

FAV SHOT                   The Walls Forward Defensive

FAV MOVIE                 Count Duckula  (we all know why!)

FAV MEMORY            Meeting Mark Butcher in the gents, in a Croydon pub and shaking his hand while both standing and peeing in the urinal.

There are no hidden secrets to The Wall's game and he'll pace out to the wicket early doors, helmet on, bat tucked tightly under his arm before fending off the openers and methodically building a score for the Casuals.

Chris 'Dead Man Walking' Henderson-Smith  RHB

AGE                              28

BAT                              Whatever Bat an umpire uses!?

HIGHEST SCORE        35

BEST FIGURES            2 - 10

ECONOMY                  3.3

FAV SHOT                   Sambuka

FAV MOVIE                 Forest Gump (inspirational leg brace scene)

FAV MEMORY            Taking a wicket at the Oval, all be it with a ball that simply rolled to the stumps!

Chris's enthusiasm as always will carry him and the casuals through this year. Although only a eager spectator for most of the season, he will be the most vocal and buoyant member of the team, our ever present leader off the field and  12th man!

James 'The Gate is Closed' Catton        RHB

AGE                              30

BAT                              Slazenger Pro Blade

HIGHEST SCORE        -

BEST FIGURES            -

ECONOMY                  James works for a Bank!

FAV SHOT                   The Bunt

FAV MOVIE                 Lord of the Rings

FAV MEMORY            Removing Stu, with an outrageous full length dive of a catch on a beach in Bournemouth.

James is a late developer into the sporting arena, and he finally gets the chance to fulfil his drunken promises after several years of self taught 'couch cricket'. A great motivator in the field and hopefully no 'slouch potato' with the bat.

   Tim ' Whipper' Golding         RHB

AGE                              33

BAT                              Slazenger Hyper Blade Elite

HIGHEST SCORE       13

BEST FIGURES            -

ECONOMY                  4.9

FAV SHOT                  Pull

FAV MOVIE               Gladiator

FAV MEMORY          Taking a Hat-trick of stunning catches at point against Nutley Hall

A permanent fixture last year in East Cheam’s XI, Tim is useful with the bat and without question an inspiration in the field. Rather than just throwing him the ball when we've got 2 overs left to fill, we're hoping to turn to Tim for some bowling strength and depth this season.

   Lee ‘Freddie’ Gaywood   RHB

AGE                              30

BAT                              Woodworm Mega Bite Platinum

HIGHEST SCORE        39

BEST FIGURES            1 - 23

ECONOMY                  2.88

FAV SHOT                   Pull

FAV MOVIE                 The Rock (A Modern Classic, apparently!)

FAV MEMORY            Something about his mate Cooly at Farncombe CC involving a chair, or more respectably Lee getting 4 wickets in one over against Guildford County, although one was a run out so that doesn't really count does it Lee!?

At university Lee always sat with a ball in his hand, tossing it up and down, rolling his wrist over to add variation, and finally after one nets session the Casuals get to experience that practice does make perfect!  Lee will no doubt feature in the season's stats page!

   Bob 'Loafers' Norden         RHB

AGE                                    60

BAT                                     Duncan Fearnley

HIGHEST SCORE              66*

BEST FIGURES                  Bob doesn't do bowling!

ECONOMY                        We don't need to know, give him a bat!

FAV SHOT                         Square cut

FAV MOVIE                       Does coronation Street have a movie?

FAV MEMORY                  Bob scoring 1000 runs, yes that's dreamland for the rest of us, in the same season his old man Des took 100 Wickets.

Seeing as there are 3 Norden's featuring in the seasons RS Casuals line up, we're hoping that Bob can emulate this sort of form once more. However it means Chris and Dave punching above their weight a touch i feel!

  Tony 'Achilles' Henderson-Smith    RHB

AGE                               58

BAT                               He likes to use a cricket bat mostly

HIGHEST SCORE        About 20

BEST FIGURES            Might use him yet!

ECONOMY                  I'm guessing he'll be around 5.4 (a ball)

FAV SHOT                   Square cut

FAV MOVIE                 Catch me if you can (Touche Tone, touche)

FAV MEMORY            Taking two towering catches on the boundary to prevent sixes, as he was travelling at 100mph, with the professionals on-looking saying "they are the two greatest catches I've ever seen". Tony was the only who could verify this!

If we can buy enough deep heat then Tony, together with Bob at 1st and 2nd slips will at least put the batsmen off their game! Yes lathered up, Achilles will feature more with his cricket bat this year, but less we forget he will also offer something with the ball should we need a slow to really slow variation to throw in the mix

Ed 'The duck'  Burton   (Wicket Keeper)       RHB

AGE                               15

BAT                                It's a Harrow Junior Bat

HIGHEST SCORE         10 out 10 wasn't it? A*

BEST FIGURES             24-32-24

ECONOMY                   It's stuff about numbers and money Ed

FAV SHOT                    Firmly struck On-Drive

FAV MOVIE                  High School Musical

FAV MEMORY             N/A (Ed is too young to have a favorite memory yet, but watch this space).

It was in the swimming pool in Spain where we witnessed Ed pass his initiation into the casual side! His parents allowed him a day with the big boys! He will really have to pull out the stops to keep the extra's to a season record low in our first year!!

   Chris 'Helmet'  Norden       RHB

AGE                                34

BAT                               Club Bat

HIGHEST SCORE         10

BEST FIGURES             -

ECONOMY                   -

FAV SHOT                    Thick Edge

FAV MOVIE                  Wild Things

FAV MEMORY             It will I'm sure be enjoying his wedding speech in Sidney after we do he Aussies in the Ashes this summer!

Chris has already committed to more than we could have hoped, or wanted, this year!  Juggling both a wedding in Australia to plan and endless golf fixtures Chris has proved himself to the Casuals and has earned the right to put on the white's of the Sharks!

   Gareth 'Goochey'  Wasbrough      RHB

AGE                               30

BAT                                Duncan Fearnley 400

HIGHEST SCORE         1*

BEST FIGURES             1 - 13

ECONOMY                   6.5

FAV SHOT                    Tea

FAV MOVIE                  High School High (Gareth and Ed are Gay)

FAV MEMORY             Alley-Way Cricket at the Henderson Oval, when he returned a medium paced ball straight back into Jimmy 'The Gate's' bugle!

Vasendrugen really makes the Casuals part of the England and Wales Cricket Board and although he has not committed to fixtures thus far, he's down for 80% ready for when we do need him!  In that case Wooz, you may as well tick all the boxes, we'll be needing you and your relatively pacey bowling every week!

   Josh 'Aussie'  Walton        RHB

AGE                               26

BAT                                Screaming Cat

HIGHEST SCORE         28

BEST FIGURES             1 - 53

ECONOMY                   6.33

FAV SHOT                    Hook

FAV MOVIE                  -

FAV MEMORY             Something about he Ashes probably!

Need to find out more about this newly adopted talent before passing judgment, but as always, there's room for Cricketing ledgends at the Casuals!!

   Dave 'Spod'  Voss       RHB

AGE                               30-something

BAT                                Just let him bowl!

HIGHEST SCORE         19*

BEST FIGURES             2 - 33

ECONOMY                   4.13

FAV SHOT                    Straight Drive

FAV MOVIE                  -

FAV MEMORY             -

Unfortunately we can't yet claim Dave as one of our own!  But we're still working on him to at least feature in some of our fixtures this season, we'll even throw in a free chiropractor service to get him bowling for the Sharks!

Alan 'Peach'  Flack   (wicket keeper)       RHB

AGE                               56

BAT                                Club Bat

HIGHEST SCORE         8*

BEST FIGURES             -

ECONOMY                   -

FAV SHOT                    Straight Drive

FAV MOVIE                  -

FAV MEMORY             -

Alan has offered himself as our second string wicket-keeper and his valuable experience and jibber jabber will do us good in the field!  Another father in the side who'll no doubt thrive on challenging their son's average in the season!

   David 'Louie'  Lewis   (Scorer)       RHB

AGE                               34

BAT                                It doesn't matter, Wine!

HIGHEST SCORE         Willing to score us highly!

BEST FIGURES             It doesn't matter, Onion Rings!

ECONOMY                   It doesn't matter, Lagers!

FAV SHOT                    The Sample

FAV MOVIE                  -

FAV MEMORY             -

Louie, the most important member of the side will be ever present and his never say die attitude and belief will no doubt rub off on the sharks as we sap all we can from the sideline provider!  He's the refreshments master, the vocal scorer and the man motivator...looks like we've got it all lads!
